You can take a ferry from Lymington Pier. The ferry itself is worth the trip! You can soak in the fantastic view of the river, the sea and the harbour. You can find out more about the ferry service here.
You can buy an Island Breeser hop on-off bus ticket to many parts of the island. Of course, don’t forget to stop by The Needle. You can find details of the bus service here.
Things to do
Once you arrived at Yarmouth, the town centre of The Isle of Wight, you can have a walk around the town.
The Island Breezer takes you to many scenic places of the islands.
The Needles is a row of three chalk rocks that rise about 30m out of the sea with a lighthouse stands at the far end.
From the photo, you will question why is it called The Needle. There was originally 4 rock formation there. And one of them looks like a needle. Unfortunately, the original Needle collapsed in a storm in 1764.
The Needles were featured on the movie “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, a 1968 British-American musical adventure fantasy film.
To have a good look of The Needle, you have to enter the Old Battery. Here you will learn how the British use this place to protect their coastline. You can find out more here.
